Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, The (SDC)

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is the bilateral funding agency of the Swiss Government. It undertakes Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid initiatives in different countries of the world. The Development Cooperation activities aim at reducing poverty in developing countries by supporting the developmental activities of the Government and the civil society. It has some 14 priority countries where it has committed developmental funding. The Humanitarian Aid responds to emergencies, conflict, reconstruction, survival and advocacy in areas whtere it is most needed. The Swiss Agency has the following thematic areas as its focus:

  • Health
  • Education
  • Water
  • Agriculture / Rural development
  • Environment
  • Employment and the economy
  • Rule of Law, Democracy
  • Conflict prevention and transformation
  • Migration
  • Economic integration
  • Governance
  • Gender
